The AWE 900 series turbine has three pitch regulated blades. The control of the blade pitch angle is achieved by a 3-axis processor-based servo system. Each blade is equipped with a DC servo motor, powered by its own servo amplifier. In normal operation the pitch angle is actively regulated according to the wind turbine rotation speed. The control strategy is implemented in the software, and can be easily adapted to local circumstances.
